about

Mission Statement
The Socially Engaged Craft Collective (SECC) is an expanding network of artists who create a wide range of socially engaged art projects that are rooted in the history of craft objects and materials. The SECC aims to connect artists and to expose other artists, educators, and those who are interested, to the wide spectrum of socially engaged craft. In addition to highlighting artists and their artwork and providing an open resource of knowledge, news, and professional opportunities within the field, the members of SECC also execute collaborative art projects.

The SECC was co-founded in 2014 by nicole gugliotti, Jeni Hansen Gard, Forrest Sincoff Gard, and Cheyenne Chapman Rudolph.

About the Socially Engaged Craft Collective
The SECC is an artist collective dedicated to the advancement of socially engaged craft. We work in a collective model meaning the way we work is dependent upon collaboration and participation. There are two types of memberships in the SECC: Website Artists and Collective Artists. We have formal quarterly meetings and monthly socials to strengthen our community. We have numerous committees that we actively serve on. We share our collective happenings and the work of other social crafters on our Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, and blog. We have exhibited widely as a collective and individuals, published our first book “Social Objects” in 2017, and have presented at numerous conferences including NCECA, Open Engagement, and CAA.
